Dr. Sarah Federman

VP, Landscape Decarbonization, Carbon Direct

Dr. Federman is a landscape scientist with deep technical and policy expertise. At Carbon Direct, Dr. Federman is the Vice President of Landscape Decarbonization team where she and her team lead nature-based solutions advisory work. Dr. Federman contributed as a lead author and coordinator to Federal R&D Policy for landscape resiliency, agricultural innovation, and the circular carbon economy as a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow with the USDA’s Office of the Chief Scientist. In private industry she led a data-driven continuous improvement to enable sustainable vertical scaling for an agricultural technology startup. In academia she developed novel research on forest ecology and evolution and contributed to conservation and management plans. Dr. Federman holds a Ph.D. from Yale University’s Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, a M.S. in forest science from the Yale School of the Environment, and a B.A. in Biology from Barnard College.
